Tips for prolonging Li-ion batteries

Image
How to prolong battey life of li-ion batteries The researches occurring in battery world is concentrating on lithium technologies and in that li-ion takes the top position. Li-ion batteries are not fully matured yet and lot of studies are going on behind, and is still improving. Lithium ion batteries are now powering satellites! It has become one of the best battery chemistry for power systems. Each battery systems has its own unique needs, such as Charging speed Discharge rate Tolerance in adverse temperatures Reasons for ageing of li-ion The battery performance is measured as its capacity, which is a health indicator. A li-ion battery may misbehave in its allotted time be due to heavy use or unfavorable temperature conditions. In the case of battery packs, they do not die suddenly, but the runtime gradually shortens as the capacity fades. The worst situations the li-ion battery can face is keeping it in high temperatures with full-charge. Do’s and Don’ts i...

E Cars-Powered By Lithium Ion Batteries

Image
Electric cars run on electricity. Unlike conventional vehicles that use a gasoline or diesel-powered engine, electric cars use an electric motor powered by electricity from batteries or a fuel cell.  E cars are really a boon to our irritated environment because they avoid all the exhausted gas emissions that come from conventional diesel cars, thereby decreasing air pollutions. Main advantages E cars over conventional petrol/diesel cars:- ·        Lower running cost ·        Lower maintenance cost-less moving parts compared to diesel cars-Just maintain the breaks, tires and suspension ·        Best for environment-zero exhaust emissions! ·        Decreased air pollutions benefits health ·        Improved safety-studies says it has lower center of gravity which makes them less likely to roll over Importan...

Lithium-ion battery market expected to exceed $60B by 2024: report

Image
Global Market Insights released a report, estimating that the lithium-ion battery global market size will exceed $60 billion by 2024. The report tracks various li-ion chemistries, touting the batteries for their "better capacity, longer life cycle, and improved efficiency when compared to available alternatives." According to the Global Market Insights report,  Li-ion has been taking off due to the ease of availability, high energy density and their longer discharge cycles. Credit :  Global market insights BNEF estimates the 2024 annual investment will be approximately $13 billion, more than doubling the roughly $5 billion annual investment in 2018 - Goldie-Scot said. The increasing adoption of automotive uses for the batteries are "what's driving the cost reductions and making it more feasible to use that technology for grid applications," David Hart, senior fellow at the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, told Utility D...
